General Information

I was looking for a quick project to see how well my x-carve was tuned, and this was perfect as my daughter got a toy out of it.

I just used craft acrylic paint, pretty sure it was DecoArt Americana. This set should give you plenty of options and is cheap: https://smile.amazon.com/DecoArt-Color-Value-Pack-Americana/dp/B004VD41RU/

Also, in case you're wondering, I finished the plywood with butcher's block oil and beeswax.

Also, I would suggest to cut the counters (interior negative space) of the characters as a pocket. I cut them and glued them with CA onto the lower piece of plywood, but one of them popped off, and that's probably not the safest thing for a toddler.
