Product Details

Although Cypress is a softwood, it can be found growing among hardwoods and, unlike most conifers, it sheds its foliage in the fall like a hardwood. Sinker Cypress is recovered from rivers and is therefore considered a green wood; it’s often used in LEED certified buildings. The oil in the heartwood makes it one of the most durable softwoods available when exposed to high moisture levels. It attaches, glues and finishes well. Common uses include outdoor structures, shingles, trim, fence posts, shutters, siding and furniture. Cypress has an average weight of 32 lbs per cubic foot.

Because this is a natural material, the color and pattern will vary slightly from piece to piece. The pictures above show 2 common grain patterns. Please see the thickness tolerance below and note that thickness will change based on conditions like humidity.

Thinner boards take more time and labor to produce; therefore, while the 1/16" pieces are thinner, they are the same price as the 1/8" pieces.
