General Information

Making use of the center mounting place on the extension board I decided to make a Tool Storage Area for clamps, collets, 1/4 & 1/8 bits and the collet spanner.

Step 1 - Important Notice

2 minutes

Important notice!:

  • Feeds ( 1’950mm/min ) and Speeds ( DeWALT 16’000rpm ) have been tested on a Y-Axis stiffened X-Carve V2 running UGS.
  • While the Bill of Materials lists an 8 × 12 × 1/2 MDF this Project actually requires a 220mm x 370mm x 8mm one.
  • The Files include the G28 ( YOUR parking position ) and M5 Commands ( turns off Spindle at the end of a file )

Step 1 – Mounting the Work Piece:
The Stock Origin is in the center of the Stock and it’s top surface – For all Files.

Measure 110mm from the left/right and 185mm from the top/bottom to get the center of it and Zero the Work Piece to all three Axis by also Probing it – On the X & Y-Axis this would leave you with a 10mm boundary for clamps.

Once set you’ll be fine for the entire procedure only required to reProbe after each Tool Change.

Step 2 - Bits and Duration

30 minutes

Step 2 – Bits and Duration:
File 01 will use a 1/8 2F Straight ( black ring ) bit and will require about 20-25min to mill.
File 02 will use a 90° Counter Sink bit and will require about 3min to mill.
File 03 will use a 1/8 2F Straight ( black ring ) bit and will require about 3-5min to mill.

Step 3 - Assembly

3 minutes

Step 3 – Some assembly required:
Mount the Tool Plate to the Side Board using 4x M5x15mm screws and matching standoffs.
I used metal M5x15mm ones but you could make your own out of MDF and use longer M5x30-40mm screws.
