What You Can Win

The X-Carve Business Bundle includes an annual membership for Easel Pro and a fully-loaded X-Carve in the size of your choice.

The fully-loaded X-Carve includes all the hardware components listed in the X-Carve configurator (excludes “Additional Software,” Materials,” and some “Carving Bits” components).

There will be a total of two winners, one for each participant category. The two participant categories are (1) individuals who do not own an X-Carve and want to launch or grow a business; (2) individuals who run a business with an X-Carve (or Carvey).

5

How to Enter

All entries must be in the form of a YouTube video submission. Videos cannot exceed 2 minutes in length (they can be shorter than 2 minutes). Submissions must be uploaded to YouTube and set to “public” or “unlisted.”

Once uploaded, email your YouTube video URL to contest@inventables.com. Make sure to indicate whether the URL is “unlisted” if you don’t want us to add it to our playlist. Only public videos will go into the Inventables playlist. Making your video public can increase your chances of winning (see “Judging Criteria,” below).

6

Submission Guidlines

Participants fall into two categories: (1) individuals who do not own an X-Carve and want to launch or grow a business; (2) individuals who run a business with an X-Carve (or Carvey). Both sets of participants must explain how the X-Carve will help them start or grow their business.

Video submission requirements for each participant category are as follows:

Individuals who do not own an X-Carve
Geared towards people who either (a) want to start a business or (b) grow their existing business by using an X-Carve. Videos in this category must include the following two elements:

What is your business or business idea?
Describe your business or idea in detail. A few talking points: What do you make (or want to make)? How did you get the idea to start your business? What inspired you to launch this particular business? Who are your customers? What need are you filling?

How will X-Carve contribute to your business’ success?
We’re interested in partnering with individuals who understand how an X-Carve will impact their business. Think critically about the roles that an X-Carve and Easel Pro will play in your business. Are you interested in scaling production of a current product? Do you want to prototype a larger design before production? Do you want to do something faster or more efficiently? The better you convey the role of these products in your business, the better your chances of winning based on the judging criteria.

Individuals who run a business with an X-Carve
Geared towards current Inventables customers who use their machine to generate some sort of supplemental income. We want to learn about your success story. Winning a second machine means you can scale growth, prototype faster, or experiment with a new venture while your existing machine stays dedicated to your current business.Videos in this category must include the following two elements:

What was the turning point in your business?
Success looks like different things to different companies. Think about the first really exciting moment in your business that made you want to keep going: that’s the moment we want you to share.Maybe it was your first order, a breakthrough in developing your most popular product, or the day you started using social media to sell your products. Tell us about this moment and how it set you on a path to success.

How has X-Carve contributed to your business’ success?
Tell us how your X-Carve helped you get to where you are now. This helps us understand how a second machine will help your business. What role did the X-Carve play in the development of your business? Explain how your first X-Carve helped you get to where you are now.

All video URLs must be emailed to contest@inventables.com by midnight (CDT) on March 31, 2018. We will announce the winners in mid-April.

7

Judging Criteria

We will select the winner based on these two factors:

Demonstrates X-Carve’s capacity to help your business
The best videos will clearly show that you are invested in your product or idea and that you understand how X-Carve will help you be successful. Your video provides insightful, specific observations about how the role X-Carve will play in your business. This is important whether you are currently operating your business or getting ready to launch.

Most number of “likes” on their video
The more likes your video accrues, the better your chances of winning. Share your video to earn more likes for your video and increase your odds of winning! To help level the playing field, we will post all public YouTube video submissions in a public playlist on the Inventables YouTube channel.

I don't have a YouTube account, is there any other way I can enter for the chance to win this amazing machine? It would be a perfect addition on helping me make my mounts for hunters and collectors. Thank you, Ian Bruce

Thanks for your interest, Ian! Unfortunately, posting a YouTube video is a requirement of the contest. You can always create a YouTube account and share an "unlisted" video if you don't want it to be public.

I have a small side business that I run using a CNC router that is not an x-carve at our local makerspace. Since I neither own the machine nor is it an x-carve, but I have an established business which category should I enter?
Cole Markham
Mo Stych
Hi, Cole - Thanks for reaching out. Feel free to enter the "non-machine owner" category since you do not own an X-Carve. We're excited to see your video!

Jamie Cope
It seems like some of the contest participants are using "non-organic" means to obtain likes (hundreds in a day - then no activity for several days - then hundreds again). Is that frowned on - or would it be OK to use "services" to gain likes? Asking for a friend.

Ronald Rosales
Hello! can I post my video in Spanish? I'm from Venezuela.

By the way I have a shapeoko 2, but I would love to have an X-Carve, so should I post the video in "non machine owner"? since I don't have a X-carve. Thanks!
Ronald Rosales
Billy Vegas
I noticed one of the videos recieved more than 3,000 'likes' in less than a day. That's more than any video posted by inventables over the past year. I hope outliers are looked at during judging if 'likes' are in fact used to pick a winner.
Billy Vegas
Mo Stych
Hello, Ronald - Yes, please submit your video in Spanish if that is your preferred language! All countries and languages are welcome :-)

Jamie and Bill: Videos with an inordinate number of "likes" compared to views will be critically scrutinized. Keep in mind that "likes" are only part of the judging criteria: the winning video must demonstrate how well the X-Carve can help their business. This is an important factor.

I sent in my link to my video, but it hasn't been added to the competition yet. I know I'm just being antsy, but, did you get my link? or do I need to email it again?
Sean Morrish
Mo Stych
Hi, Sean - Sorry for the delay! Yes, we did receive your video entry and have added it to the playlist. Thank you!

So the competition entries are closed. When is the judging finished or started for that matter? Really, the real question is when do I stop pushing video link into the face of everyone I know, and screaming "Like my Video" repeatedly, until they submit, or run away in terror? Asking for a friend

Thank you for putting on such a contest and for the opportunity to participate for a good chance at a great tool. Myself and I am sure others appreciate it!

Do we have a winner? Getting so anxious! ????????????

Got the email: Its says Chris of Herb's Furniture. And Courney, and Jessica of Creative Wood-N-Things.

Congrats to the winners... but on behalf of the people who worked really hard to meet BOTH of the judging criteria, choosing a winner with only 3 likes when many networked amongst friends, family and local community to get the likes. I mean I know it's a contest but seems a little unfair
Corey Stairs

I think they're primary goal was... well advertising. The winners were personable, with pre-established marketing media, and good video presence. All easily sellable qualities, and no doubt Inventables' #1 wanted quality. Those of us that didn't make that connection lost out. Better luck next time.
